Job Summary

The Lead Generation Specialist will contact businesses via telephone with the intent to generate interest in credit and debit card processing services and additional payment processing products and/or services. Responsible for placing a high volume of outbound calls (100+/day) to prospective merchant customers (B2B), for the purpose of gathering competitor’s billing statements for sales analysis and to set appointments for Sales Representatives when possible. Cold calling from an existing database of supplied leads will be the primary function of this position. The role of Lead Generation Specialist is an entry-level, full-time, and hourly plus commission employment opportunity.

Job Functions (Functions performed by this position include, but are not limited to, the list provided below)


Conducting prospecting calls via the telephone, generating leads and setting appointments for Sales Representatives, warm-transferring potential merchant prospects to available Sales Representatives, and collecting competitor billing statements for comparison.

Present merchant services and related ancillary products/services to businesses nationwide via telephone to generate interest and obtain commitment for a consultation with a Sales Representative.

Function as a consultative sales assistant; accurately convey the organization’s products and services to prospective clients as strategic solutions to improve their business operations, help increase sales, and/or decrease the costs associated with their transaction processing.

Must meet or exceed minimum unit productivity quotas consistently.

Must be able to operate standard office equipment (fax/copy machines, telephones, PC, etc.)

Conduct Internet research and utilize email capabilities to facilitate sales activities and communication with prospects.

Customer relationship management (CRM) software knowledge; key entering notes, updating prospect/lead status, tracking calls and progress toward completing sales, pipeline management, etc.

Fundamental sales skills required: negotiation and persuasion, up-selling, closing, follow-up, and networking

Communication, math, and computer skills are essential

Working conditions


Applicants must be able to work a full-time shift: 8-hour daily shifts, 40-hour work weeks, Monday through Friday.

This position is sedentary 90% of the time.

Minimum Education and Experience


High School Diploma required, some college preferred. The ideal candidate will have some previous appointment setting/lead generation experience via cold calling; have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; must be able to influence, motivate, and negotiate with customers and business owners; and must have strong planning and presentation skills; minimum 2 years related experience; minimum 1 year related work experience within a call center environment functioning in a telephone sales, customer service, or account management capacity. Industry experience preferred but not required.
